Terms of Use
Last updated October 9, 2026
In short: ssn.tips is a free educational tool, provided as is. Its figures are estimates and could be wrong. It isn’t financial, tax or legal advice, and you use it at your own risk.
Who runs this site
ssn.tips is run by John Lombardo as a personal project. It is an independent site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Social Security Administration (SSA). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Education only, not advice
The site shows “what if” calculations to help you understand your Social Security record. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it doesn’t recommend when to claim benefits or how to invest. For any important decision, check the figures with SSA or a qualified professional who knows your situation.
Provided as is, with no warranty
The site and its results are provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of any kind. That includes any warranty that the figures are accurate, complete or up to date, or that the site will be available or free of errors. The results rely on public data, on SSA’s estimates in your file and on simplifying assumptions, any of which may be wrong or may not fit your situation.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, John Lombardo is not liable for any loss or damage of any kind, direct or indirect, arising from your use of the site or from relying on its results. That includes decisions about claiming benefits, retirement or investing. Some places don’t allow certain limits on liability; in those places, these limits apply as far as the law there permits.
Your file and your privacy
Your statement file is read only in your browser and is never uploaded or stored. The privacy page explains what the site does and doesn’t collect.
Other sites
Links to ssa.gov, data sources and Buy Me a Coffee go to separate sites with their own terms. A coffee is a voluntary gift. It doesn’t buy any service, support or warranty.
Changes
The site, its calculations and these terms may change, and the site may go offline at any time, without notice. The date above shows when these terms last changed. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
